The Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI) is revolutionizing the agricultural and marine sectors in The Bahamas. Launched in 2013 as the brainchild of Prime Minister Perry Christie, BAMSI is a key part of the Government’s overall plan to build a more modern and prosperous nation.
At the centre of BAMSI is an 800-acre research and demonstration farm located in North Andros. Crop and livestock production began in 2014 and in the last two years, the total acreage under production has expanded significantly.
Beyond Andros, BAMSI is creating opportunities for all Bahamians. By revitalizing the fields of agricultural and marine science, BAMSI is diversifying the country’s economy, encouraging entrepreneurship and training and promoting community development. The Institute is also rapidly expanding in The Family Islands, with offices established in Eleuthera, Grand Bahama, Cat Island, Abaco, Crooked Island and Mayaguana.
BAMSI has reached significant milestones in the four years since it was first established and is continuing to grow each and every day, for the benefit of all Bahamians. Come grow with us!
